Hotel Taprobana

“We loved this boutique hotel despite being the only guests! This is a very small private hotel and due to recent conflict tourisim has badly effected Sri Lanka. But we felt like we had a private residence and we were looked after so well. This was the 2nd place we stayed in Sri Lanka on our honeymoon before going to”

“We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of our 20 day tour of Sri Lanka. It was the most expensive hotel on our tour and we were looking forward to the cool boutique luxury. Best bits: The rooms hotel and lay-out are lovely and the food was really very good quality. The service from the waiters is excellent”

“We stayed here for almost two weeks over the xmas new year period. After a nightmare flight (delayed Sir Lankan Airways great KLM that does their check in – awful ) and taxi ride through the xmas traffic from the airport ( 4 hours usually takes 2) we were greeted by friendly staff bearing cold flannels and drinks. “Taru Villas was bliss for the two of us who visited twice (because once was not enough). We had a beautiful room with sun loungers and a little fish pond outside. The hotel garden is exquisite and the pool and surroundings are simple and elegant. A gate leads across the railway track onto an enormous empty white sand beach. Hotel”

“I booked to stay for 2 nights at Taprobana and ended up staying 3 nights. The room was spacious clean and just made you want to stay. I had a beautiful view from my balcony. Although you have to climb over the railway line to the beach I felt this added to the charm as just over the tracks was”

“We booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for 2 nights. On the last night we paid additional charges to stay in their Colombo affiliate Park St. Hotel. Pros -Great food! This hotel had some of the best food we’ve had all trip. Whilst we wanted to try the typical Sri Lankan dishes at many other establishments they were”

“I wanted to stay at a boutique hotel on the beach and Taprobana had excellent credentials. What a disaster! The room was dim (I like to read at night–forget it)–and you had to make arrangements to go to the beach–and to eat–and what to eat…and the food was disgustingly over-rich and the staff spent their time watching tv and when”

“1st up: there are 2 hotels on TA which seem to both be the same hotel: Taprobana in Bentota! Taprobana has many good things about it. Lovely architecture. Great accessories. Pretty good food. A nice pool. Great location: close-ish to Colombo airport near a little beach to walk along. Intimate size. There was 1 big thing and several little niggles”
