Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions Hotel

“After a grueling work week in Delhi I decided to take a solo Diwali weekend to Sri Lanka to relax. I choose the Ayurveda Pavilions because it was easy to book the treatments with the hotel. I was picked up by the hotel driver at 3:00 am at the airport and a hotel staffer was awake and waiting for me…. “

“The hotel describes itself itself as “luxury” but it isn’t. It is quite basic – the food is variable sometimes lovely and sometimes not with quite a limited menu; the accommodation is basic (holes in the mosquito nets etc) and quite clean. The pool is lovely and very clean. They promote the link with their sister hotels in Negombo but”

“We stayed one night en route to the airport and really enjoyed it. The pavilions are clean with their own private gardens and huge bathrooms. The open air tub was a real plus soaking under the stars. The food was healthy low calorie but very tasty. I had an ayurvedic body massage which really set me up for the long”

“Nicht nocheinmal. Meine Hotelempfehlung “Ja” richtet sich nur auf die Ayurveda-Behandlung. more “

“Hatten 14 Tage über TUI die Ayurveda Pavillons bestellt und waren sofort nach Ankunft enttäuscht: 1. Zimmer sind verwohnt dunkel “

Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel

“Our third trip to Sri Lanka over the years but our first to the wonderful Lighthouse Hotel. Having previously stayed at the Taj Exotica and The Eden hotel I would say the Lighthouse without doubt for me was my favourite. There were only two downsides to our visit the main being that we were both eaten alive by sandflies (the”

“Just back from the Lighthouse which we thought was wonderful. Wanted somewhere special for a big anniversary and it provided that for us. Got a cheap deal through Kuoni – don’t know about value for money if you pay the hotel’s standard prices. Rooms are elegant with wooden furniture and a spacious bathroom including shower and separate bath. All rooms”

“Amazing location! Amazing place! Amazing room – big and clean! View is superb! The food is too good…Grilled prawns are the best! People are nice… a must must must to stay there! would go there again and again and again. more “

“An ideal location next to the sea nice to sit and listen to the sea crashing against the rocks !!. We came to the light house primarily to go whale watching but unfortunately the sea was too rough but that gave us a good chance to relax and use the lovely big swimming pool. It certainly is a luxurious hotel”

“This hotel is gifted as it was designed by great Architech Geoffrey Bawa. Ethnic Srilankan Architechure blended with great sea view makes it a wonderful place to be. Food is not that good but breakfast is nice and great.A spa with a large poolside area adjacent to a private beach makes it a unique place. more “

“We stayed in The Lighthouse for 4 nights at the end of December and yet I’m writing this review 4 months after our stay such is the hold that this hotel has had over us! Friends from Sri Lanka & others who had visited recommended The Lighthouse even if it was just for a drink in the evening to watch”

“We stayed at the Lighthouse 10-21 January 2009. It was a truly wonderful experience! The downside to staying there was the long journey from Columbo airport which took 4 hours after an 8 hour flight from the UK. However when we arrived to the candlelit entrance all was forgotten. “Galle is a very small place on the southern tip of Sri Lanka. The Lighthouse is a nice place and is right on the beach. Teh road from Colombo to galle is also very picturesque. “The reception at this hotel was not particularly welcoming we were shown to our room which was a bit of a trek from reception. Hotel Tree Of Life

“We booked this hotel through a local travel agent…I allowed his enthusiasm to shape my expectations so I openly admit that these color this review. In a nutshell I would have been much more satisfied with the value and quality if the price would have been around $120/night. The agent described the Tree of Life as “5-star”. Well my husband”

“Think I must have been at another ‘Tree of Life as I can’t agree with previous postings! My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at the hotel even with torrential rain. Delux rooms up near the pool in the new wing were fine and were clean with brilliant views from the balcony. Staff could not do enough for”

“Rooms and toilets are not clean bad smell from towels front desk restaurent house keeping don’t answer the phone at night. cannot contact staff at night as they all are sleeping. Restaurent refuse to take orders when they have wedding or conferences. the worst place i have ever been. more “

“Fantastic setting but ugly building. Dark damp rooms that were in need of a good clean. Surly staff showed little interest. Poor value for money and one of the worst places we stayed during our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. more “

“We stayed at the Tree of Life for 2 nights. It’s a welcome escape from the traffic & noise of Kandy & we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful setting & the amenities. We stayed in the new huge & beautifully appointed chalet rooms. Each has a balcony with a massage table & herbal spa bath as well as a huge bathroom”

“Although the setting and the grounds for this hotel well outside the crowded streets of Kandy are beautifully green and lush at least some of the rooms are positively dire. We originally has a large suite with dreary old bedding and drapes a carpet that was scary to walk on and a balcony overlooking a car park and building site…. “

“We stayed here in June 2004 for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is in a lovely setting but the accommodation fell short of the mark. we were given a ‘cottage’ or ‘bungalow’ room. “we stayed for 2 days/nights as part of a 18 day tour. Once the home of a former tea plantation manager the original bungalow is lovely and the accommadation directly behind the bungalow looked very nice. we were taken to rooms further on not in keeping with the original house a rather ugly building. Our room was your average hotel”

“A very special experience it was (2 years back). From the hustle bustle of Kandy city to this oasis of peace 10 miles to the SouthWest.
