“Booked one night at the Grand Hotel the ‘new’ governor’s wing i was to find out later that the new wing was 10 years old. Check in a slow process took around 15 minutes..while we were waiting we got tea and some sort of sweet as a welcome drink which was different to the other hotels. Good size rooms fresh fruit and choccies provided on arrival was a nice touch. The main dining room is enormous but tradition has been maintained. “You cannot judge this Hotel by today’s standards it really does hark back to colonial times. The public rooms are awesome and the restaurant food very good. We had a room at the front which was rather dated but comfortable. We obviously did better than other reviewers. We enjoyed shopping in Nuwara Eliya and found it excellent value for material”
