Park Street Hotel

“Before I comment on this property I would like to make this disclaimer: I think this is a very nice small property for couples (or individuals) looking to get away. It seems like a quiet oasis in a city very peaceful. That being said I don’t think this property is prepared to facilitate business travelers nor should it market itself”

“I read reviews of this hotel. But I cannot understand that why they wrote “Good”. Our room(suite) has only frosted glass windows. It’s as same as wall! No view! Noisy music at dining area. Not tasty breakfast. Lasy staff.. Next time I’ll go to another hotel. more “

“This was a terrific place to end our two weeks in Sri Lanka. I only wish we could have stayed more than one night. It’s absolutely stunning our deluxe room (Room No. 3) was very comfortable (the bathroom doors were a bit difficult to close but that’s a nitpick only) the complimentary Internet access was a pleasure after nearly two”

“I regret that I only had one day here. This is basically a business hotel in Columbo–but it had the best food I had in Sri Lanka. The room was huge and the bar was great. The lighting in the room was too dim–but that’s something I find almost everywhere–and I was too intimidated to use the pool which abuts”

“Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Colombo wonderful food fantastic rice and curry great pool and lovely helpful staff. more “

“I chose Park Street on the basis of Tripadvisor recommendations and it merited those recommendations. V.nice modern rooms (apart from the 2 suites which are older) nice pool excellent food. Quiet and safe behind locked “Residents Only” gates. The only thing to watch is that they had lost my reservation but fortunately had a room free anyway; I would suggest”

“We stayed at the Park Street Hotel for 3 nights over Christmas at the end of our Sril Lankan holiday. I was initially struck by the coolness and style of the place. The public areas are nicely looked after and laid out the bar is small but comfortable and the service is excellent. The pool area is good although sometimes”

“I had been looking for a suitable replacement for the Hilton which just wasn’t working for us when I came into CMB for business trips. I’ve since tried the Cinnamon Grand Regency wing of the Galle Face and looked over the Casa Colombo. Park Street wins for us because it’s small (under 15 rooms) exclusive set on a quite residential”

Peacock Beach Hotel

“We stayed here for 2 nights firstly to visit the Yala National Park and secondly so as to be in a convenient place to head North to the hill country. The hotel staff were charming and very helpful and the rooms satisfactory. No English-speaking TV however. The food was European and OK taking into account that as far as we”

“This was quite a delightful surprise for a peaceful week’s stay. Although fairly empty due to the economy the hotel was a marvelously quiet retreat set in beautiful gardens with an abundance of wildlife. I shall never forget the troop of large monkeys that accompanied my morning swims in the very large pool. Staff were pleasant although not terribly efficient”

“The Peacock Hotel is one of those places that your heart goes out to; they are struggling with keeping the hotel afloat there aren’t that many visitors since the tsunami took away a chunk of sand from the ‘swimming’ beach (there is a sharp drop off now and the waves are easily always 10 to 20 feet high dangerous rip”

“We stayed at the Peacock Beach as part of the international Sri Lanka Balloon Festival tour 2008. We had heard about the devastation due to the tsunami and were impressed by the restoration that has now been completed. The rooms were simply furnished but clean and comfortable staff were eager to please good “international buffet” at mealtimes. Beautiful sea views “

“Lovely location. The hotel is quite shabby in places but when you realise the hotel was totally devastated in 2004 with terrible loss of life you just have to admire the way they are trying to get the place back together again. Go and stay there! You will love it and they need you! more “

“Hi Stayed at The Peacock Beach twice in the past and had no complaints at all. When we saw it had re-opened we added it to our trip in March. Am so glad it was only for 3 nights! If we hadn’t felt sorry for all the staff we would have moved on. We were the only guests (108 rooms);”

“We stayed at this hotel as our stay over for the Yala Safari and infact extended our stay acouple of days as we were pleasantly surprised to find it also had a nice beach stretch. While the rooms were quite comfortable the food also had a great variety. The Restaurant and bar has an amazing view of the ocean and”

“This hotel has just reopened after being closed for two years and at the time of writing it was like a building site! There is a lot of work to do on this hotel. It’s only advantages are that it’s right on the beach and only a short walk into town. The food was poor but overall the staff are”

“We spent 6 nights at Nor Lanka and found it to be perfect for what we wanted at Unawatuna. Anoma Helge their kids and Lal welcome you into their hotel in a relaxed yet professional way. The room we stayed in was simple but was clean and had everything we required. Breakfast was always excellent as were the two evening”

“Nor Lanka is a wonderful place to stay with friendly and helpful owners and staff. Many hotels in Unawatuna are located on the beach whilst this sounds very romantic the beach can get quite busy and noisy at times so being in a hotel that is set back a little is actually a positive particularly when the hotel has wonderful”

“All has been said about NorLanka. But I promised to leave a little message so here it is. Helge and Anoma your hotel is great. The food is extremely good and finally your hotel is a wonderfull place to come home to. To sit down have a bear and relax after long day of work or after a hot sunny”

“This wonderful small hotel/ guesthouse has not yet made it to the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide pages. I stayed there with friends on a personal recommendation and it is clear that this a factor which makes the Nor Lanka such a friendly comfortable and relaxing place to stay. “we stayed at Nor Lanka 35(!) days in jan./feb.09 and we loved every one of them it was not one day too much and we were very sad when we had to leave due to a booking elsewhere. The rooms at N.L.are very clean and nice (rooms are made up every day thoroughly apparently more the exception than the rule “

“Stayed at the Nor Lanka for 2 nights during our recent Sri Lanka trip after finding it on tripadvisor. Yes it is very good basic but adequate rooms very clean nice owners who will arrange anything for you. Only 10 rooms (i think) here so its usually nearly full. Free internet. Helges brother in law also took us to Colombo”

“Thanks to TripAdvisor we booked for 2 weeks at the Nor Lanka. Great hosts.Good food. Multi National clients. Good location yet only a few yards from the Beach. Plus free wi-fi!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful:-) more “

“I was in Sri Lanka for the cricket a year or so ago and went without booking any accomodation…Neela’s was just a random pick from the guide book.
