“We stayed here for one night as part of a tour. When we arrived we thought the surroundings looked beautiful. The hotel reception/pool area is a little odd though. “We stayed here for 1 night during a tour of sri Lanka and were really disapointed with the place. “My wife and I stayed at Thilanka’s as it was recomended to us by a friend. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields and orchards and the manager was telling me they are aiming to be self sufficient. It was a unique experience. After a quick check in we were shown to our chalet. Neat rooms with modern amennities. However”

“My husband and I stayed at Thilanka Resort and Spa on the 12th of October and it was a truly satisfying stay for us. We enjoyed the welcome drink (which was fresh guava juice I think) and then the room was also very spacious and comfortable with our very own plunge pool (which we never expected!) The greatest surprise was”

“Stayed here for 3 days. Hotel quite empty perhaps because of the recent bus bomb nearby. A truly beautiful small -scale “boutique style” hotel which is convenient for Dambulla and Sigiriya cultrual sites. Contemporary rooms with funky style touches. ( Polished concrete walls oversized prints private out door plunge pools.) The pool is a highlight it’s long enough to swim”

“The resort is set in a tea and mango plantation and they have a very limited number of rooms. It was so quiet and peaceful and the food was amazing. They would ask us what we would like for the evening and we were not disappointed for any meal. The pool is beautiful but not very practical for children -“

“The hotel has 2 types of rooms – refurbished ones and the old ones. The refurbished ones are OK but certainly not cheep and in my opinion do not give enough value for money. “It looks to have been updated as recently as 1948 right down to the old fashion skelleton key. The matress was gross but covered with a clean sheet. No AC meant a slightly moldy aroma. Beds had nets which are needed because mosquitos can enter under the eaves at will and this is malaria country. more “

“I completely agree with the previous reviews. Based on them we chose to stay in one of the unrenovated rooms on the top floor and were not disappointed. “I agree with one of the previous reviewers. This place was built by the British colonials in 1907… and it certainly is showing its age!! But the character!! Fantastic. We were offered one of the newly-renovated rooms on the ground floor that featured a new bathroom and air conditioning but we chose one of the older rooms on the first”

“The Tulip of Ceylon is one of those great hidden getaways you hardly find anymore. When we went we were the only guests there and treated with the utmost courtesy. “We travelled around Sri Lanka for two weeks and this was the best place we stayed at by far. The village walk was the highlight of our holiday. Cannot recommend this place enough. more “
