The Roof’ offers spectacular views of Luxor Temple and across the Nile over
to the West Bank (not the easiest of places to find) located on the top floor
above Snacktime. We enjoyed a relaxing hour sipping chilled fruit juices but
sadly we didn’t partake of the food on offer due to a prior engagement, however,
with the mouth-watering aromas drifting over from the grill it was certainly
very tempting.

An ideal place for a chilled drink and photo opportunities.  We didn’t
eat on this occasion so are unable to give a review other than to say many
customers seemed to be enjoying the food and it smelt divine.

“This place is well worth a visit, it’s like a traditional Egyptian grill shop – but with a higher standard acceptable to tourists. The Chicken was superb and comparable to my favourite local place in Alex, moist – tasty and delicious, the meat dishes looked just as delicious and the price was excellent and all that with a fantastic view…. more “

“7th October 2017. We visited the Roof at Snacktime, for the third time in the last month, at 8.30pm. We were attended by a waiter within a few minutes, he just gave us enough time to get settled in. As we both had an idea of what we fancied, the order was placed in a minute or so. I asked… more “

Restaurant Reviews

Although not officially a restaurant, I felt we could not
leave out this lovely little tea room when doing our reviews.  Just along
the road from the St Joseph, the tea room open from first thing in the morning
until early evening is spotlessly clean and well decorated.  Delicious
paninis and homemade coleslaw, cheesecake, the best apple pie in Luxor and a
cracking cup of tea, served in a homely relaxed atmosphere.  Thank you
Christine and staff, thoroughly enjoyed our take-away lunch at the airport. See you
again later in the year.

“Yummy .. I’ve travelled to many different countries & frequented many coffee shops/tea rooms, but this ranks the top of them all. It was that good. Newly furbished and immaturely clean, with delicious goodies on offer. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was exceptional. My husband & I just loved the friendly atmosphere and mouth watering… more “

“Called into this tea room for a bit relief from the sun. Ended up going back 3 times. Very friendly, chatty staff and the snacks and toasties are taste from home. “We recently visited Luxor on our honeymoon, and were advised by our cosmos travel rep of a small English tea room situated on the same street as our hotel. Metropolitan Cafe Luxor

Worldwide Travel Holidays in Luxor

Restaurant Reviews

I believe the Metropolitan Cafe and Restaurant,
Metropolitan Bowling Club and El Kababgy are all owned by the same people.
Sadly time didn’t allow us to try all these venues so the Metropolitan Cafe and
Restaurant will have to wait until we return next month. We did however try
El Kababgy and could  certainly recommend it for good food, great views
and, in view of location, fair prices.

“really terrible place. Food not that great, service slow and the exchange rate for paayment in $ or pounds is a total rip off. Nice waiter. Manager not so great. Not the place for food. more “

“Had lunch here twice. It was one of the few places you could have a beer with a Nile view. It was deaer than some places not on the river but good food. The toilet was a public one nearby which was ok. Cheaper wine than our nearby hotel and supplied in an ice bucket more “

“Went here once and never went back, nice views over the river and cheapish Stella but the food was very plain and average, ok for a snack but there are certainly better places to eat more “

“There are two cafes down in this area, one has a 2 lane bowling alley which is good fun, with big screen tv’s that show music and sports. Miyako Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

Miyako, I believe Luxor’s only Japanese restaurant, is located at
the Sonesta st George Hotel.  Having eaten Egyptian/English/Indian food for
the last couple of weeks we decided to treat ourselves to something totally
different. The food was delicious, particularly my partners
seafood teppanyaki.  The bill,
however, was
quite expensive (only to be expected for a

hotel restaurant) but was nevertheless good value for money.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“We ate twice in Miyako. We arrived late and were tempted in by the waiter. We had gorgeous crab sushi and tepanyaki. The chicken is beautiful and the garlic and friend rice were mouth watering. The cook encouraged us to join in too! A lovely way to start to holiday! On our second visit we had a similar menu but… more “

“Ate in restaurant twice. Teppanyaki was a good experience and food delicious but you may need to reserve a table. more “

“We had dinner a few times here while we stayed in Luxor and enjoyed it. The food is good and the decor is stunning. They add a few nice touches with their beautiful serving dishes and the hostess wears a kimono. I don’t think you could find better Japanese in Egypt, but then again Egypt isn’t known for Japanese cuisine…. more “

“Miyako is worth a try with reasonable food and reasonable prices. Its not 100% but its one of the better places to eat. we found it advertised on a leaflet from a suposedly better restaurant and we didnt regret going. more “

“We ate here twice during our stay in Luxor. Both times we were very impressed at the quality of the food. We had the set tapan yaki meal… one fish/seafood and one meat. luxor-restaurant-la-corniche

Having thoroughly enjoyed a meal at 1886 the last week we decided to give La
Corniche a try this week. (Both restaurants are located within the Old Winter
Place).  This lovely hotel has a beautiful ambiance and we began the
evening with an enjoyable drink in the Royal Bar.  Sadly La Corniche
Restaurant, offering international cuisine, was a little disappointing. The food
was acceptable, the staff attentive but the atmosphere seemed to lack the charm
and splendour associated with the rest of the hotel.  Maybe we were
expecting too much after being thoroughly spoilt dining at 1886!

“The Corniche is the restaurant that the residents of The Old Winter Palace use for breakfast or dinner if they are not eating in the other restaurants in the Hotel It is a large room & the tables are not on top of each other. Oasis Cafe and Gallery Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

One of my favourite cafes, I love the ambiance and character of this old
place, the decor and music make we want to return time and time again.  A
mixture of American and Egyptian cuisine, all homemade, made it our perfect
lunchtime place to get
away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Luxor streets.  As with many of
the Luxor restaurants the staff always had a few minutes to help me with
my Arabic.  In fact I think I’ve learnt more from chatting with the staff
than I did from the course of lessons I paid for last year.  Anyway I
digress, for good tasty food in relaxed surroundings you won’t go far wrong
frequenting the Oasis Cafe.  A definite must to add to your list- highly
recommended.

“Oasis Cafe features home-cooked food (comfort food plus gourmet specials such as pesto, home-made lasagne, and Moroccan cous-cous) in an early 20th century atmosphere. “I have been to the Oasis Cafe many times over several years. The food remains the best American style food in Luxor – and maybe in all of Egypt. “I am a resident of Luxor and use the Oasis occasionally when I want a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is varied and their breakfast menu is excellent. “The service in this cafe is appalling and the prices are very high.
