The Roof’ offers spectacular views of Luxor Temple and across the Nile over
to the West Bank (not the easiest of places to find) located on the top floor
above Snacktime. We enjoyed a relaxing hour sipping chilled fruit juices but
sadly we didn’t partake of the food on offer due to a prior engagement, however,
with the mouth-watering aromas drifting over from the grill it was certainly
very tempting.

An ideal place for a chilled drink and photo opportunities.  We didn’t
eat on this occasion so are unable to give a review other than to say many
customers seemed to be enjoying the food and it smelt divine.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“This place is well worth a visit, it’s like a traditional Egyptian grill shop – but with a higher standard acceptable to tourists. The Chicken was superb and comparable to my favourite local place in Alex, moist – tasty and delicious, the meat dishes looked just as delicious and the price was excellent and all that with a fantastic view…. more “

“7th October 2017. We visited the Roof at Snacktime, for the third time in the last month, at 8.30pm. We were attended by a waiter within a few minutes, he just gave us enough time to get settled in. As we both had an idea of what we fancied, the order was placed in a minute or so. I asked… more “

Restaurant Reviews

Although not officially a restaurant, I felt we could not
leave out this lovely little tea room when doing our reviews.  Just along
the road from the St Joseph, the tea room open from first thing in the morning
until early evening is spotlessly clean and well decorated.  Delicious
paninis and homemade coleslaw, cheesecake, the best apple pie in Luxor and a
cracking cup of tea, served in a homely relaxed atmosphere.  Thank you
Christine and staff, thoroughly enjoyed our take-away lunch at the airport. See you
again later in the year.

“Yummy .. I’ve travelled to many different countries & frequented many coffee shops/tea rooms, but this ranks the top of them all. It was that good. Newly furbished and immaturely clean, with delicious goodies on offer. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was exceptional. My husband & I just loved the friendly atmosphere and mouth watering… more “

John and John’s Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

John and John’s is located at the Gaddis Hotel (just across the road from the
Pyramisa Isis Hotel) Whilst the restaurant
provides both English and Egyptian food the place has an English feel in every
sense. Here we found friendly staff serving tasty food (my partner had the steak
and pepper sauce and myself the shwarma) with good sized portions at prices for
both food and drink reasonable.  If you’re looking for home from home with
football, karaoke and a Sunday roast then this is the restaurant for you.
However, if you’ve come to Luxor to sample typical Egyptian then you might
prefer one of the many other Luxor restaurants.

The Lantern Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

the-lantern-restaurant-luxor

Having tried the Lantern on previous trips to Luxor I was surprised this year to
find it not up to the usual standard, all of which was rather embarrassing
having invited along 4 new friends from our hotel.  After singing the
praises of the Lantern the meal overall somewhat of a mixed bag.  The lentil soup
delicious, sea bass and greek salad acceptable, however, the combo platters
(soaked in too much oil) were hardly touched.  The lamb hot pots were
lovely, but it was almost impossible to get a knife
through both the fillet steaks and the steak on the surf and turf, even though
steaks knives had been provided. The wine and deserts were good. Although
too polite to criticise, it was obvious from the amount of food returned to the
kitchen that our guests were not very impressed with the Lantern. Cost
wise, apart from the 1886 restaurant at the Sofitel Old Winter Palace, the bill
was the most expensive of the holiday at just over 950LE.

Due to the inconsistent quality of the food I am no longer comfortable
recommending the Lantern to friends and colleagues.

“Run by an English lady & her Egyptian hubby. King Tut Luxor

Restaurant Reviews

After descending a flight of stairs we were pleasantly surprised to enter a
light and airy restaurant, not what we were expecting of a basement
establishment.  The International/Egyptian menu was extensive with
something to satisfy everyone, from typical Egyptian to pizzas and steaks.
Welcomed by friendly staff and we were given complimentary appetisers to
accompany our chilled soft drinks, but sadly the restaurant was extremely quite
and lacked atmosphere. Maybe ok for a quick reasonably priced meal or snack but
not the right place if you want to make an evening of it.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“This restaurant deserves to be in a more prominent position. Were it to be on the Corniche near to Luxor Temple it would be packed all day, every day. Once you’ve made the descent into the basement, you’re greeted by a light, airy restaurant, which is nicely furnished and spotlesssly clean. Ghamal, the owner, is a very gracious host, he… more “

“My wife and I had a list of new restaurants to try when in Luxor recently. I have to admit we left this one until near the end of our holiday. La Fleur Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

La Fleur is a fine dining restaurant within the 5 star Maritim JolieVille
Hotel.  Offering international gourmet food it’s an ideal place for a cosy
romantic evening meal away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Luxor. We
didn’t try La Fleur on this occasion (as I plan a return visit with my husband
later in the year).  We did, however, enjoy drinks on the Sherezade Terrace
where we they have some splendid views so don’t forget your camera.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Situated at the Maritim Jolie Ville hotel. I have eaten at La Fleur a few times now as I stay at the hotel when in Luxor. The restaurant is really another room next to the main eating area of the hotel but is set up nicely with a good decorative order throughout. It has air con and feels more upmarket…. more “

I believe the Metropolitan Cafe and Restaurant,

Sadly time didn’t allow us to try all these venues so the Metropolitan Cafe and

Miyako Luxor

Restaurant Reviews

Miyako, I believe Luxor’s only Japanese restaurant, is located at
the Sonesta st George Hotel.  Having eaten Egyptian/English/Indian food for
the last couple of weeks we decided to treat ourselves to something totally
different. The food was delicious, particularly my partners
seafood teppanyaki.  The bill,
however, was
quite expensive (only to be expected for a

hotel restaurant) but was nevertheless good value for money.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“We ate twice in Miyako. We arrived late and were tempted in by the waiter. We had gorgeous crab sushi and tepanyaki. The chicken is beautiful and the garlic and friend rice were mouth watering.
